Set & Costume Design

Leaning into the play's dystopian and folkloric themes, the set design reflects the oppressive realities of the immigration system through concrete cinder block-inspired modular set pieces, sharp angles and a palette of muted greys and neutral tones. Lighting and sound worked with the modular set to create a strong atmospheric quality across each transition.

The costume design introduces colour, texture and individuality into this otherwise clinical world. Using colour theory, distinct palettes chart the characters' journeys, particularly the sisters as they become increasingly divided, while the folkloric characters provide the only textured elements within the space.

The project incorporated repurposed scenic elements and close collaboration with the props department in developing the Fawn's mask.
