Set & Costume Concepts

This speculative design for L'Enfant et les Sortilèges reimagines the opera as a modern-day dream sequence, drawing on Art Nouveau influences to form a fluid world where interior and exterior spaces merge.

Selected for its "fantasy ballet" structure, the project explores costume within a dance context, allowing choreographic integration.

At its centre is a revolving staircase entwined with twisted tree roots, transitioning into a surreal garden. Scale shifts throughout, reflecting the logic of a child's imagination, where forms expand and collapse unpredictably. Generous floor space is retained to accommodate integrated movement across the set.

The piece is shaped by the child's perspective, where reality is filtered through imagination and consequence.
